Compulsory contributions by physicians without medical activity
Even if you are not currently practicing your medical profession, you may remain a member of your pension fund and increase your pension entitlement by paying contributions. During the idle period, you pay a contribution of at least 1/10 of the standard contribution. You may top up this contribution to the amount of the standard contribution. The standard contribution applicable in 2023 is € 1,357.80 per month.
If you do not want to pay any contributions, you have the option of being exempted from compulsory membership in our pension fund. An application for exemption from membership must be submitted in writing within six months after the end of the medical activity.
Important! A membership waiver cannot be revoked. A coverage by our pension fund is possible only with the establishment of a new compulsory membership – usually by taking up a medical activity. We generally recommend our members to continue their membership by paying their membership contributions. Exemption from membership may lead to significant gaps in insurance coverage. Therefore you should exercise this option merely in case of an adequate cover.
